An Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration prepares graduates to begin or advance a career in the business world. The program is designed to give students an understanding of business principles and practices. A formal business education prepares students to plan, organize, direct, and control the various functions and process of a firm or organization. Individuals trained in these skills are needed in almost every sector of business. The Bachelor of Business Administration program has partnered with the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM) to ensure the graduates have the fundamental management skills and knowledge in three core knowledge domain areas: Management, Planning and Organizing, and Leading and Controlling. These three areas are the cornerstone of any manager’s skill set.

In the last two quarters leading up to graduation, students are enrolled in two Capstone courses, providing students with the opportunity for final preparation, testing, and earning the Certified Manager (CM) designation.

Certification is an important means of assuring management competencies. The Beckfield College Bachelor of Business Administration program is designed to develop student skills in a variety of areas and provides the tools necessary to obtain certification – assuring that Beckfield College graduates have professional management training.

The Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology is designed to prepare candidates in the professional knowledge and skills which will qualify them for employment in a health care facility.

*Upon completion of the program, graduates are able to demonstrate:

• A working knowledge of the national diagnosis and procedural coding systems (ICD and CPT-HCPC )
• A working knowledge to abstract and code from a medical record
• Understanding of HIPPA and EMR (electronic medical records)
• Knowledge of insurance processing and the claims appeal process
• The ability to manage patient accounts and monitoring reimbursement

Graduates are eligible to sit for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) examination.

Mandates from all levels of government have generated a high demand for trained professionals in the field of health information technology, including medical administrative assistants, front office coordinators, medical receptionists, insurance and billing specialists, coding specialists, and insurance auditors.

Hospitality is the business of managing hotels, travel and tourism, entertainment, and people. Along with the concentrated hospitality courses, students also take a number of core business and management courses to develop very marketable skills.
